Important Updates to the 2020 Tree Seedling Program

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Tree Seedling Program has undergone changes. Please read below to find updates regarding placing an order and pick up day.

Bundled Seedlings Order Update

If you have placed an order for bundled bare-root seedlings (white pine, white spruce, or white cedar), unfortunately, we will be unable to distribute your order this year. Once the seedlings are pulled from the ground, they must be planted within 3-4 weeks to ensure survival. Given the COVID-19 pandemic we will be unable to distribute the seedlings in a safe physically distant manner.

The Town will be donating the seedlings to Ontario Streams, a non-profit environmental organization that has been doing environmental rehabilitation work in Caledon for the past 25 years and will be able to plant the seedlings in Caledon, the Region of Peel and other areas within the GTA at a later date. The Town has arranged for this donation to ensure that the seedlings are cared for and can be planted. We will not be accepting any further orders for bundled seedlings.

If you have placed a bundled seedling order this year, please review the two options below:

  1. You will be automatically refunded (after May 4, 2020) for the amount of your bundled seedling order.
  2. You can forego your refund, which will contribute to the seedling donation to Ontario Streams (for planting at a later date) by notifying environment@caledon.ca no later than Monday May 4, 2020.

Potted Tree Orders & Pick Up Day

We will continue to accept orders for potted trees until Friday July 31, 2020.

The pickup day has been postponed to Saturday August 22, 2020, as the potted trees can sustain their health for some time.  As the Town is monitoring the rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic, you will be notified if the postponed pick up day will need to change again.

Please contact environment@caledon.ca if you have any questions.
