Forests Ontario 50 Million Tree Program

Forests Ontario is the leading non-profit organization for the delivery of high-quality large-scale tree planting programs across Canada. Since 2004, Forests Ontario have planted more than 33 million trees through their various programs.

50 Million Tree Program

Forests Ontario’s 50 Million Tree Program provides property owners with financial and technical assistance to increase forest cover on their land for the benefit of the province.

As of 2019, Forests Ontario has planted more than 29 million trees through the program, producing more than 16,000 hectares of new forest.

All bundled seedlings (white pine, spruce and cedar) purchased through the Town’s Tree Seedling Program will be counted towards Forest Ontario’s 50 Million Tree Program.

Over-the-Counter Tree Program

To enhance the participation of individuals in tree planting, thereby increasing the total number of trees planted, Forests Ontario has implemented an Over-the-Counter (OTC) Tree Sales Program. This program provides a $0.25 subsidy per seedling from Forests Ontario and is accessible to landowners.

Please see Forests Ontario Guidelines page for more information and to apply. The application deadline is February 1st, 2020; however, it is recommended to submit an application as soon as possible due to limited quantities.
